Coitsville trustees seek meeting with ODNR on township injection wells
COITSVILLE — Township trustees are seeking a meeting with Ohio Department of Natural Resources officials to discuss the future of injection wells in their township, according to a news release from Sonja Gilliam, township zoning secretary.
The depth of the well on U.S. Route 422 near the Purple Cat is being reduced to meet state standards, and that well is being plugged, according to ODNR officials.
Trustees are seeking more information on future plans for that well and another injection well further west near the Youngstown city line, the release said.
Injection wells are used for disposal of fluids, including oil-field wastes. ODNR regulates oil and gas drilling and related activities in Ohio.
