UPDATE | School board OKs contract extension for superintendent
YOUNGSTOWN — By a narrow margin, the city school board approved a one-year contract extension for Stephen Stohla, interim superintendent.
Members Brenda Kimble, Michael Murphy, Ronald Shadd and Jerome Williams were in favor.
Members Jackie Adair, Dario Hunter and Corrine Sanderson were opposed.
Earlier, today's regular city school board meeting got off to a raucous start.
An argument began on approval of the meeting agenda.
Hunter called the agenda a failure because it doesn't include any of the important issues facing the school district.
He listed creationism in the curriculum, shortfalls in the special education department and bullying.
JWilliams, board member, said some members use every meeting to raise negativity about the district.
"We can't move forward unless all seven of us work together," he said.
