Boardman police looking into another 'secret shopper' scam

BOARDMAN — Police are investigating a scam after responding to a forgery report earlier today.

A victim told police reportedly about signing up online to be a secret shopper, someone who allegedly would receive money from a company to purchase items at a store to review them.

After signing up, the victim received an envelope to send $988 through a number of money orders from other stores. After completing the task, the victim looked up the submitted contact information and found they were listed under common phishing scams.

Police have no leads as of now.
