‘Hamilton’ will come to Cleveland in 2017-18 season

CLEVELAND — Producer Jeffrey Seller and Playhouse Square are thrilled to announce the national tour of “Hamilton” will come to Cleveland as part of the 2017-18 KeyBank Broadway Series.

Dates and ticket information will be announced at a later date. Theater fans can go to playhousesquare.org/Hamilton and sign up to receive news about the show and its Cleveland engagement.

There has been no word yet on whether “Hamilton” will also come to Pittsburgh in the 2017-18 season.

“We have received many inquiries regarding this show, and so we are excited to confirm that Hamilton will be part of the 2017-18 KeyBank Broadway Series,” said Gina Vernaci, Playhouse Square’s Executive Producer.

Although the best way to secure tickets to Hamilton in Cleveland is to become a season ticket holder for the 2016-17 KeyBank Broadway Series and then renew for 2017-18, there will be single tickets available.

With book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton — an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” is the story of America then, as told by America now.

Hamilton is the winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 11 2016 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
