Arson claims more city houses

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire reports said three vacant houses were destroyed by fire over the weekend and another was damaged.

Destroyed after crews were called about 10:30 p.m. Sunday was a 1916 Elm St. home. At about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, fire destroyed a 3131 McGuffey Road home and at about 10:10 p.m. Friday, a 200 Garfield Ave. home was consumed by a fire.

Sustaining about $2,000 in damage was a 369 Earle Ave. home, where crews called about 11:30 p.m. Friday after a fire was found on the porch and the sides of the home.

The Earle and Garfield avenue fires have been ruled arsons. A cause for the Elm Street fire is under investigation and a cause can not be determined for the McGuffey Road fire, reports said. There were no injuries in any of the fires.
