SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra is conducting a Musical Treasures raffle to benefit the orchestra’s Community Outreach program. Tickets are available through Youngstown Symphony Society board members, the DeYor Performing Arts Center or at orchestra concerts during its 90th Anniversary Season beginning Sept. 17. Winning tickets will be drawn at the season’s final concert March 25, 2017. First prize is a performance of the Youngstown Symphony string quartet with a flutist at the winner’s private function and second prize is the Painted Violin created by Allan Charles Orr, photo realist, who recently placed Best of Show at the Butler Institute of American Art’s area artist exhibition. The oil painting on a violin depicts the interior of the Edward W. Powers Auditorium and will be displayed in a hand-crafted shadow box made by James Dunlap. Seated, at left, is Orr with Floyd Barger, raffle chairman. Other members of the raffle committee are William Farragher, Judy Sees and Dorothy Tesner.
