No Lucas Museum in Chicago

No Lucas Museum in Chicago

CHICAGO

“Star Wars” filmmaker George Lucas says Chicago won’t be home to his Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

Lucas Museum officials issued a statement Friday saying it will no longer consider Chicago as a potential site for the museum because of an ongoing federal lawsuit from a parks advocacy group. Instead, museum officials say the museum will be located in California.

Friends of the Parks has argued that the museum plans violate laws restricting development along Lake Michigan. The museum was to be built on a parking lot near Soldier Field, where the Chicago Bears play.

The city of Youngstown even attempted to interest Lucas in locating the museum in the city, sending a letter to him a few weeks ago.

Gordon interested in ‘Live’ show

SONOMA, CALIF.

Jeff Gordon is open to succeeding Michael Strahan as Kelly Ripa’s new “Live” co-host – so long as he could continue his new job as a NASCAR analyst.

Gordon is calling his final race of the season today for Fox Sports and then will head into the first significant downtime of his professional career. The four-time NASCAR champion is in his first year in the broadcast booth, and he insisted Saturday he’ll be back next year when Fox resumes coverage of the first half of the season.

However, Gordon didn’t quash recent speculation that ABC is interested in him joining Ripa on “Live.” Gordon co-hosted with Ripa nine times during the “Live With Regis and Kelly” era.

He declined to give much insight into a possible job with Ripa, and didn’t address whether he’s had talks with the show since Strahan’s departure.
