Fanfare: Reader wants more prep, college baseball

More high school and college baseball, please

DEAR FANFARE:

I love sports. I love football, baseball, basketball. At every level — high school, college and pro. You do a good enough job at pro coverage, but my problem is with high school and college.

I would prefer to read more about high school and college baseball than YSU spring football. Don’t get me wrong, I want YSU football to be great, but in the fall and winter. Your everyday front page coverage of football in springtime takes away from the great game of baseball. I’d like to see the conference standings of high school and college baseball and basketball and more about the teams. You do know they play baseball at Ohio State, right? These tiny articles from the Associated Press about them winning the Big Ten and going to the NCAA Tournament lack the recognition they deserve.

I know golf is big in this area, but I don’t need to see Jason Kokrak’s picture every day. And I know auto racing is popular also, but I would prefer Ohio and local sports. And here’s a shout-out to Armstrong Cable. This is Big Ten country, not Southeastern Conference country, so give your customers the Big Ten Network.

I am not a big fan of modern technology. I like to read the newspaper. I have a lot of respect for the people that have published and, especially, delivered my paper through the years. But there’s always room for improvement.
