RECYCLING

Upstate Shredding – Weitsman Recycling recently announced that it has once again received the top industry award in North America by leading trade media group, American Metal Market. The award for Scrap Company of the Year was recently announced at the annual AMM awards dinner at the Edison ballroom in New York City. Upstate has a location in New Castle, Pa.

INSURANCE

Gem Young Insurance and Financial Services Inc. has been recognized by Grange Insurance as a top-performing independent insurance agency, earning Grange’s prestigious Leadership Circle designation for excelling in both professionalism and performance in 2015.

The Leadership Circle Designation is given to Grange’s most experienced and talented independent agency partners who are leaders in the insurance industry.

NURSING

Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, located at 100 Covington Dr., East Palestine, was recently recognized as a 2016 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award for its dedication to improving the lives of clients through quality care. The award is the first of three distinctions possible through the National Quality Award Program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living, the leading association for long-term and post-acute care.

WEALTH

JFS Wealth Advisors, an independent wealth management firm with about $1.8 billion in assets under management, has been named by the Financial Times as one of the top 300 registered investment advisors in the country.

LEADERSHIP

This week, Canfield-based Serving Strong announced its recent accreditation by the BBB of Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. As a BBB Accredited Business, Serving Strong is dedicated to promoting trust in the marketplace.

HEALTH

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has once again selected Akron Children’s Hospital as one of the Top Workplaces in Northeast Ohio in 2016.

The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by WorkplaceDynamics LLC, a leading research firm specializing in organizational health and workplace improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including alignment, execution and connection.

Of the 2,458 Akron Children’s employees who received the Workplace Dynamics 2016 survey, 1,866 or 76 percent completed the questionnaire.

BANKING

Huntington Bancshares Inc. recently announced that Sandra E. “Sandy” Pierce, FirstMerit Corp. vice chairman, and chairman and CEO of FirstMerit Michigan, will join Huntington as senior executive vice president, private client group and regional banking director and chair of Michigan following the anticipated successful completion of Huntington’s acquisition of FirstMerit.

Michael G. Robinson, will become wealth and investment management director also leading private bank and national settlements. Robinson is currently executive vice president, wealth management services at FirstMerit.

Barbara Benham, will transition from her role at Huntington as executive vice president, chief communications officer to the newly created executive vice president, chief public affairs officer.

Julie C. Tutkovics, will become chief communications officer and director of regional marketing. Tutkovics is currently executive vice president, chief marketing officer at FirstMerit. At Huntington, Tutkovics will lead corporate communications and regional marketing, inclusive of enterprise internal communications, business segment communications, media relations, public relations and social media.
