YOUNGSTOWN

Police found a gun in the car of a man they say crashed Thursday afternoon while being chased by police.

Bond was set in municipal court Friday at more than $75,000 for Kenneth Price, 28, of North Lakeview Avenue.

He was arraigned before Judge Robert Milich on charges of possession of drugs, carrying concealed weapons, being a felon in possession of a firearm, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and several traffic offenses.

He also was wanted on warrants from municipal court for aggravated menacing, and from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for possession of drugs.

Reports said officers spotted Price driving a car east on Oakwood Avenue just before 5 p.m. Thursday, and the officers recognized Price, who is wanted on several warrants.

Police tried to pull Price over, but he instead got on Interstate 680 south, exited at Glenwood Avenue then tried to get back onto the freeway at Glenwood Avenue, only to flip his car over on the entrance ramp.

Price managed to crawl out of the car and run away.

Two men in the car were taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital; they are not being charged,

Officers searched several streets around the exit for Price, including John and Plum streets.

Price was spotted by Detective Sgt. Ed Kenney hiding behind a bush in Oak Hill Cemetery and surrendered.

Price climbed over a stone wall to get inside the cemetery.

Inside the car, police found a .357-Magnum revolver loaded with six .38-caliber hollow-point rounds, reports said.

Also found in the car was a bag of marijuana and 15 pills.

The gun had a laser scope on it, reports said.

The gun is the 65th taken by police this year, according to Vindicator files.
