Child-porn charges
WARREN
Vincent E. Heflin, 42, of Blakely Circle Southwest, pleaded guilty Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to 25 child-pornography charges.
A relative alerted police after seeing some of the images on Heflin’s phone, police said. Heflin committed the offenses on various dates throughout 2015, according to his indictment.
Authorities say they charged Heflin on 25 offenses, but the phone contained 800 or more illegal images, some depicting children as young as toddlers.
The county prosecutor’s office will recommend that Heflin serve five years in prison, said Gabe Wildman, assistant county prosecutor.

Pulled from bridge
YOUNGSTOWN
Several police officers stopped a 23-year-old man from jumping off the Spring Common Bridge Thursday.
Officers Darrick Ball and Greg Tackett were called to the bridge about 6 p.m. for a report of a man who wanted to jump. Reports said the man told police he did not want to live anymore, and he was sweaty and shaking.
The man calmed down and told police he would get off the bridge after smoking a cigarette, but when he was done, it looked like he would jump, police said.
