Feast Day

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown branch of the Slovak Catholic Federation, which serves the Diocese of Youngstown, will celebrate the traditional Feast Day of Sts. Cyril and Methodius on July 5 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 252 E. Wood St.

The Mass will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a gathering to follow in the social hall, where a picnic-style array of food and refreshments will be served.

The feast of the brothers remains a national holiday on this date in Slovakia, even after the liturgical calendar moved the commemoration to February after Vatican II. The church and hall are handicap accessible via an elevator that can be entered from the outside through the door facing the parish house at the base of the ramp. All are welcome.
