A Market Street man is in the Mahoning County jail after witnesses said he assaulted a man Wednesday morning on a Western Reserve Transit Authority bus and then punched the door when he was locked out.
Police were called about 8:20 a.m. to the 600 block of Belmont Avenue on the North Side for a report of a fight on a bus. When they arrived, they found both panes of glass on the bus door shattered.
The bus driver told police Terrance Lamar Williams, 40, of Youngstown had assaulted a passenger then punched the bus door. The passenger said Williams walked past him and began punching him. A witness also told police Williams started punching the passenger, and when Williams left the bus, the driver locked the door, and Williams punched it.
Williams told police he also was assaulted but he had no obvious injuries, reports said. He was taken to jail on charges of assault and criminal damaging.
Facing drug charges

Reports said police arrested Frankie Lee Harris, 50, of West Dennick Avenue about 12:35 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on a charge of possession of heroin. Misty Keller, 35, of Russett Street in Akron also was issued a citation on a charge of possession of a drug-abuse instrument. Both were passengers in a car pulled over at Hillman Street and West Marion Avenue on the South Side for an improper turn, reports said. Reports said Keller had a needle in her clothes, and police found a dose of suspected heroin in Harris’ wallet.
Harris was booked into the Mahoning County jail. Keller was released and given a court date for her citation.
Taken into custody
YOUNGSTOWN
A juvenile and a 27-year-old man were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon while police were investigating a fight with gunfire.
Cory Dodd, 27, is in the Mahoning County jail on charges of felonious assault and discharging a firearm in city limits. The juvenile was released Thursday from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, and no charges were filed against him.
Reports said the two were arrested while police were investigating a fight with gunfire about 3:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Valerie Drive on the South Side.
No one was injured. Police found a 9 mm shell casing at the scene.
