On April 21, Canfield High School hosted a National Honor Society induction ceremony.

After the main portion of the ceremony, Administrative Advisor Tim Wensel presented the Leadership in Service award, beginning with a reading of quotes from the student’s membership essay. Wensel continued by discussing the student’s senior service project with fellow soccer player Jeff Joseph, where they raised $4000 for Breast Cancer Awareness. It wasn’t until halfway through the speech that Heather Haley, Canfield senior, realized that Wensel was talking about her.

When Haley was announced as the recipient of the 2016 National Honor Society Leadership in Service Award, she said that her experiences of serving others through NHS have changed her life forever. She will soon graduate in the class of 2016 and pursue a career in Occupational Therapy at Westminster University.

Haley is proud to have her name added to the NHS plaque that will be displayed in Canfield High School.
