Step 1: Download the Uber app from your smartphone app store and create an account. An Uber account requires a valid email address and phone number. You’ll also need to create a password and agree to terms and conditions and a privacy statement.

Step 2: Enter your payment information. Adding a credit card or debit card number allows your trip fares to be automatically charged after each ride. Please note that Uber cannot accept prepaid cards.

Step 3: Uber will send an email to confirm your account registration. Once you confirm, you’ll be able to use your app to request a ride.

Step 4: Manually enter your address so your driver knows where to meet you. Select the address at the top of the screen to enter your location.

Step 5: Confirm you’re getting in the right Uber. Double check that the license plate number matches the car’s plate and photo matches the driver. Confirm your driver’s name and tell him or her your name.

Other information: Need to contact your driver? Tap the “up arrow” next to the driver info and select “Contact Driver” to call or text your driver. Uber automatically anonymizes your number so you’re never sharing your personal information.
