A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

June 15

Arrest: Police arrested a juvenile, no information given, on a charge of receiving stolen property while investigating a suspicious vehicle on North Lima Road. A street sign had been stolen and recovered.

Theft: A New Middletown woman reported her purse missing while at an East Western Reserve Road church.

June 16

Theft: A Jennifer Drive man discovered a $1,200 digital camera had been stolen.

June 18

Recovered property: A $250 motorized scooter was found in the 6700 block of Katahdin Drive.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to break into a Shell gas station, 3190 Center Road, and did $500 in damage to a door lock.

BOARDMAN

June 16

Arrest: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard resulted in the arrest of Charles R. Parisi Jr., 28, who listed addresses on Kentwood Drive in Boardman and Viall Road in Austintown. He was wanted on an Austintown warrant accusing him of violating a protection order.

Bad check: Police phone booked 19-year-old Brandon R. Ferrier of Stoneybrook Lane, Canfield, on a felony charge of passing a bad check after a worker for Second Sole, a shoe and apparel store at 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, reported having received a $736 check drawn on a closed account.

Citation: Police responded to a one-car crash on Brandon Avenue, where they cited 19-year-old Anthony J. Carson of Brandon, Struthers, on charges of driving under suspension and operating a vehicle impaired.

Fraud: A Pine Tree Lane man told officers a man claiming to be a tech-support expert twice called saying his computer was not running properly while trying to gain access to the accuser’s computer. He realized it was a scam and lost no money.

Menacing: A Wolosyn Circle man said a woman has sent him dozens of unwanted text messages, apparently in an effort to sabotage the accuser’s relationship with his girlfriend.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 4300 block of Chester Drive was found with two smashed windows. Damage was estimated at $800.

Misuse of a credit card: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail arrested David J. Walp of Mathews Road, Boardman, on a felony charge of misuse of a credit card after a family member alleged that June 4, the 18-year-old Walp had stolen her debit card, then used it to make more than $2,660 worth of purchases at a Doral Drive big-box store. He also used her card at locations in Youngstown, Poland and Struthers, a report showed.

Harassment: A Sierra Madre Trail man reported someone claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service made two calls threatening legal action against the man.

Theft by deception: A manager with Jared Galleria of Jewelry, 7415 Market St., told authorities a man age 30 to 35 with a New Jersey driver’s license applied for a store credit card and, when approved for a line of credit, bought $13,041 worth of merchandise before it was discovered he had used someone else’s identity.

Fraud: A Southern Boulevard woman learned that her stolen personal and credit-card information had been used to make three fraudulent purchases totaling $1,362 at stores in Willoughby and Mentor.

Theft: A woman found out two firearms had been stolen from her boyfriend’s Erie Street residence.

Vandalism: A delivery driver with a North Lima furniture company told officers that while driving near Glenwood Avenue and White House Lane, another motorist tossed a bottle and struck his truck’s passenger-side mirror.

June 17

Theft: A woman reported $100 missing from her Homestead Drive apartment.

Drugs: Authorities near an Operating a Vehicle Impaired checkpoint in the 4100 block of South Avenue took into custody 27-year-old Matthew M. Gbur, who was charged with marijuana and cocaine possession. Gbur, of South Avenue, Boardman, had multiple pieces of suspected marijuana and a bag containing suspected cocaine, police alleged.

Theft: Teeya M. Graham, 35, of Marmion Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing a three-pack of socks, two pairs of boys shorts and a separate pair of socks from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal mischief: A Shadyside Drive woman alleged a neighbor with whom she has ongoing problems had tossed a fallen branch, which bent and slightly damaged part of the accuser’s fence.

Theft: Two men reportedly took $461 worth of property from Spencer Gifts in Southern Park Mall.

Criminal mischief: A man walked on a portion of sidewalk containing fresh cement, leaving several foot imprints, at a Boardman-Poland Road gas station.

June 18

Aggravated menacing: A man told police three men entered his Hillman Way business and that one of them pulled a semiautomatic handgun from his waistband before the three left. The gunman was described as age 21 or 22 with short, black hair and wearing white gym shorts and a dark-blue T-shirt.

Theft: A Southern Boulevard man noticed a $900, 60-square-foot metal trailer missing from his backyard.

Domestic violence: Bobbi T. Olds, 37, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, faced one felony domestic-violence charge as well as a misdemeanor count of endangering children after several people alleged Olds had dragged her 2-year-old son around the residence by his leg, tossed the child on a couch and struck his left thigh with a belt. Police reported the boy had two bruises, including a fresh one, as well as several circular welts on his thigh, a report showed. Also, Olds received minor-misdemeanor citations charging drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burglary: Someone removed plywood from a rear door, entered the home in the 3900 block of Shelby Road and took two $1,000 speakers and an $800 keyboard.

Criminal mischief: A West Boulevard man told police someone without permission had moved his vehicle 40 to 50 feet from where it sat with a flat tire.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 8500 block of Reserve Court placed scratches on a car’s driver’s side and removed a hood ornament. Damage came to $1,000.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole $71.50 worth of items, including energy drinks, from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Aggravated menacing: The owner of a Market Street restaurant told authorities a man whom he had hired to perform construction work but later fired threatened to break the windows at his business. The owner also received an intimidating voicemail message, he said.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a $20 bottle of wine from a Get Go gas station, 6911 South Ave.

Criminal mischief: Someone with chalk scrawled an obscene drawing on a driveway in the 6600 block of Ron Joy Place.

Theft: Cynthia L. Williams, 68, of West Martin Street, East Palestine, was charged with theft and possession of criminal tools after two pairs of dress pants, a jacket and a pair of jogging pants were stolen from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. Also, a security tag was cut from one of the items, a report said.

June 19

Assault: After responding to a fight between two women at a Market Street gas station, authorities arrested Kylie R. Haynes, 20, on a simple-assault charge after the victim and a clerk alleged Haynes, of Chestnut Hill Drive, Youngstown, had pushed her into an ice-cream cooler. The victim further alleged Haynes had banged her head against the ground and punched her in the attack.

Criminal damaging: An intoxicated man reportedly punched and broke two window panes at a mobile home in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Thefts: Joshua R. Kosa, 33, of South Bailey Road, North Jackson, was charged with two counts of theft and 49-year-old Robert M. Sudimak of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, faced a single theft count after merchandise, including three pairs of tennis shoes, was stolen from Sears and the J.C. Penney store, both in Southern Park Mall.

Menacing: A Canfield woman en route to a home in the 8500 block of Reserve Court reported having gotten a Facebook message containing a threat to blow her and others up, along with a second, implied threat.

Theft: A woman age 35 to 40 reportedly stole about $18 worth of food and drink items from GFS Marketplace, 7460 South Ave.

Vandalism: A man told officers that as he left a Doral Drive store, he saw three scratches and three dents on his car’s passenger side. Damage came to $2,000.

Theft: While investigating possibly stolen property at Southern Park Mall, police arrested Robert M. Sudimak, 48, of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, on a warrant charging him with theft by deception of an elderly person, a fourth-degree felony, related to a March 3 incident in which an official with a South Avenue nursing home reviewed a resident’s financial paperwork and discovered someone had made unauthorized withdrawals from the victim’s bank account. It was undetermined how much money was missing, a report stated.
