Flight celebration set

VIENNA

The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport will celebrate the launch of daily flight service to Chicago O’Hare International Airport with a community cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception Thursday.

YNG will host an “After Hours Mixer” with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event for a chance to learn more about the daily air service and future plans for the flights, and to check out the newly remodeled terminal. Residents, community officials and business professionals are all encouraged to stop out for refreshments and networking.

Golden Corral closed

BOARDMAN

The Golden Corral restaurant located at 320 Boardman-Poland Road has closed again.

Ken Houck, a spokesman for Golden Corral, told 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, that the location was not meeting sales expectations, so it closed Monday.

The Vindicator could not reach Golden Corral representatives for more information.

The location had closed in January 2014 and then reopened September 2014.

Hospitals fined $451K

HARRISBURG, pa.

Capping a two-year investigation, the Department of Environmental Protection fined 12 UPMC hospitals a total of $451,000 for violations of the Solid Waste Management Act. The action was taken after inspectors for DEP’s Waste Management found that large quantities of untreated regulated medical waste were transported to Waste Management Inc.’s Monroeville landfill.

DEP inspectors conducted follow-up inspections at a number of UPMC facilities and two Allegheny Health Network hospitals. Those inspections revealed additional violations including improper labeling, storage and handling of regulated medical waste.

Job fair Thursday

Shepherd of the Valley–Niles located at 1500 McKinley Ave. will have a job fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Open interviews will be conducted at the job fair. Attendees should bring a resume to be interviewed for any full-time/part-time state tested nurse’s aide and licensed practical nurse positions.

STNA positions come with a $750 sign-on bonus and LPN positions come with a $1,200 sign-on bonus.
