South Range Schools address social media

NORTH LIMA
South Range Board of Education members adopted a new social media policy to set guidelines for a school Facebook page, if one is created.
The policy states, “All posting of comments on South Range Local School District pages are at the discretion of the page administrators.”
By posting on the page, one agrees not to post personal information such as phone numbers or email addresses; post anything threatening, harassing or illegal; post comments under multiple names or use someone else’s name; post advertising or soliciting material; or post material that infringes on the rights of anyone else.
The entire policy can be reviewed by contacting the board of education office, 330-549-5226.
Board members also adopted a revised policy for kindergarten students’ entrance ages.
Students now have to be at least 5 on or before Aug. 1 before entering the school for the following school year.
Previously, students had to be at least 5 by September to attend for the school year.
This policy goes into effect in 2017.
In other news, Treasurer Jim Phillips will be transferring funds left over from the class of 2016 to the class of 2017.
Phillips said South Range has done this every year for as long as he can remember.
The amount will be determined after Phillips finishes allotting money for bills from the class of 2016 sometime in July.
