An Ohio woman accused of killing her 6-month-old son has entered a plea and been sentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole after 15 years.
Ariana Cannon entered an Alford plea on Monday to murder in Carsyn Cannon’s August 2015 death.
That means she maintains her innocence but concedes there is enough evidence to convict her. The Toledo judge convicted and sentenced her.
Charges of aggravated murder and endangering children were dismissed.
The 21-year-old Toledo woman could have received life in prison without parole if convicted of aggravated murder.
Cannon declined to make a statement in court. Her attorney didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
The baby died two days after it was hospitalized with a head injury prosecutors said was caused by “a violent act.”
