2 Mahoning County educational entities recommended for Ohio Straight A Funds


COLUMBUS — Both Campbell City Schools and the Mahoning County Educational Service Center have been recommended to receive state Straight A Funds.

Straight A grants are awarded for programs and initiatives that improve student achievement and increase efficiency. The Straight A Governing Board made the recommendations, which will go to the Ohio Controlling Board for approval.

Campbell would receive $915,603 for the North East Ohio Literacy Consortium. Its partners are Austintown, Beaver Local, Brookfield, West Branch, Newbury and Windham Exempted and Youngstown Community School.

The grant recommended for Mahoning County ESC, Mahoning Valley Prepared for Success, totals $990,048. It involves Austintown, Campbell, Canfield, Columbiana Exempted Village, Poland, Springfield and Struthers schools and the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.
