Stabbing in South Side tavern critically injures man

The victim of an early morning stabbing Sunday at the El Patron Bar on at 1329 E. Indianola Ave. was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital’s trauma center with a chest wound, according to a press release from Youngstown Police Chief Robin R. Lees.

The male victim, estimated to be in his 40s, was in critical condition and undergoing surgery Sunday. His identity was not released by police pending notification of his family. The stabbing was reported at 2:30 a.m.

The police investigation determined that the victim was stabbed during a fight at the bar. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and following up on leads.
