Scrappers erupt to snap streak

The Mahoning Scrappers snapped their two-game losing streak on Sunday with a 15-hit outburst.

The Scrappers (1-2) scored five runs in the third inning in Sunday’s 14-3 victory over the Auburn Doubledays in New York-Penn League action.

Emmanuel Tapia and Luke Wakamatsu combined for six hits and five RBIs to lead the Scrappers.

Tapia got the scoring started in the top of the second inning when he launched his second home run of the season, a solo shot, for a 1-0 lead.

The Doubledays responded with two runs. Their lead didn’t last long. Tapia hit a two-run double and Jonathan Laureno, in his professional debut, added an RBI single.

The Scrappers added three runs in the fifth inning.
