Major waterline break on Southern Boulevard at Maple Drive

City water department workers are working to fix a “major waterline break” on Southern Boulevard at Maple Drive.

The cause of the break hasn’t been determined, but it’s likely bad enough that after it’s repaired there could be a boil-water alert for the area, said Joseph Dunlap, the city water department’s superintendent of construction.

The break occurred about 12:30 p.m. today and nearby water customers, including some in Boardman, are without water, Dunlap said. It could take a few more hours for the break to be repaired, he said.
