David Bailes Jr., 45, faces murder charges in motorcycle club shootings

WARREN

David H. Bailes Jr., 45, of Kale Adams Road in Leavittsburg, is charged with two counts of murder in Saturday's gun battle among two motorcycle clubs at Shorty's Place bar on Highland Avenue in Warren Township.

The charges were filed in Warren Municipal Court Sunday. No arraignment hearing for him has been scheduled. He is apparently hospitalized and not in the Trumbull County jail.

Bailes was one of at least three men who suffered gunshot wounds in the battle, which involved the FTW motorcycle club, of which Bailes was a member, and the Brothers Regime, of which the two dead men were members.

The dead are Robert A. Marto, 54, and Jason C. Moore, 41. The two other men who suffered gunshot-wound injuries are Andrew G. Claypool, 50, and Walter M. Hughes, 41, both members of the Brothers Regime.

A press release issued this afternoon by the Warren Township Police Department says police found two males on the ground in the northeast section of the bar's parking lot at 12:32 p.m. with apparent gunshot wounds.

They also found two more victims in the south lot with apparent gunshot wounds. A local hospital also reported that another victim had been taken to the hospital and was being flown to a Cleveland hospital for treatment.

Several weapons were recovered as well as spent shell casings, the press release said.

Police Chief Don Bishop said earlier Monday that the various investigators involved in Saturday’s double homicide had received cooperation from the 50 to 60 witnesses police encountered when they arrived.
