GREENVILLE, PA.

Replacement of the 95-year-old, structurally deficient bridge on North Race Street over Little Shenango River is scheduled to begin June 27, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced. The $2,359,794 project will involve replacing the existing structure with a new two-span bridge and updated drainage, guide rails, signs and pavement markings. The detour will be over Main Street and College and Alan avenues. The new bridge is expected to open Dec. 15, with some final paving and re-vegetation to be completed in spring 2017. About 1,450 vehicles a day use the 125-foot-long concrete arch bridge. Eighty percent of the project cost will be paid with federal funds, 15 percent with state funds and 5 percent with local funds.
