The Wolves Club of Youngstown gathered May 6 at Michael Alberini’s Restaurant for its annual scholarship banquet. The opening address was given by Youngstown State University President, Jim Tressel. He challenged scholarship recipients to be the best they can be, work hard, study and graduate.
Four-year scholarships to high school seniors who will attend YSU in the fall were awarded to:
Angela Rodino, Austintown Fitch
Brandon Rozzi, Boardman
Alex Schill, Canfield
Terry Stockton, Jackson-Milton
Kristen Kopnicky, Lowellville
Jason Medvec, Poland
Abigail Rowe, Struthers
Dakota Gooding, Western Reserve
The Wolves Club also will award three scholarships to the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Funding for the scholarships is matched each year by the Mercy Health Foundation.
The total amount of scholarships awarded in 2016 by the Wolves Club was $50,000. They raised funds through events from 2015 which are matched by the YSU Foundation.
