POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

June 10

Drug paraphernalia: After pulling him over near Myron and Grace streets, police charged Edward J. Plecha of Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, with possession of drug paraphernalia. The 25-year-old Plecha had a straw with a white powder residue, likely used to snort cocaine, a report showed.

Arrest: Officers charged a 17-year-old Hubbard boy with failure to comply with police after alleging the teen led them on a brief vehicular pursuit when they tried to pull him over for having driven 68 mph in a 35-mph zone on East Liberty Street.

June 12

Misuse of a credit card: An East Liberty Street woman discovered $661 worth of unauthorized online purchases had been made from one of her accounts.

Harassment: A Palmetto Drive woman reported a 26-year-old relative, of Massillon, has been making unwanted contact with her.

June 14

Harassment: A South Main Street man alleged a Hubbard man, 27, called threatening to fight with or kill him.

Identity fraud: A Caroline Avenue woman who tried to complete an application online found out her Social Security number had been used without authorization to apply for a car loan and a home mortgage.

Recovered property: An Ohio license plate was found on the road on North Main Street.

Identity fraud: A clerk with a Hubbard veterinarian clinic learned that after giving a co-worker permission to use her bank card that was declined when the co-worker attempted to use it at a local store, someone else apparently had tried to access her account. The victim lost no money, however, a report said.

LIBERTY

June 9

Auto theft: A 2007 Pontiac Torrent was stolen in the 3400 block of Breezeknoll Drive.

Vandalism: A woman alleged a 35-year-old Boardman woman refused several times to leave her North Gate Drive residence, then tossed water in the accuser’s vehicle, possibly damaging electronics equipment, as she left.

June 10

Arrest: Robert C. Peeples, 53, of Sandusky, faced burglary and domestic-violence charges after police responded to a report of someone with a firearm at a Hadley Drive apartment. A woman told police Peeples entered via the front door with a key he had taken from her and, once inside, tried to roll her in a bed sheet and threatened to kill the accuser and her family.

Theft: A woman reported several documents, including bank-account information, were missing from her apartment in the 4000 block of Logan Gate Drive.

Identity theft: An elderly Fifth Street woman told police several stores informed her someone has been using her identity to open or reopen various lines of credit.

June 11

Possible arson: Authorities were dispatched to an apartment in the 10 block of Trumbull Court, where they reportedly found clothing in a dresser drawer on fire and a nearby ashtray with cigarette butts. The Liberty Fire Department’s arson investigator was notified.

Theft: A $360 computer tablet as well as a cellphone and its charger were taken from a car in the 900 block of Colonial Drive.

June 12

Theft: A temporary registration tag was stolen off a car in the 200 block of Goldie Road.

Theft: An Oriole Drive man reported a pair of prescription glasses, a garage-door opener and another items missing from his car.

Theft: A temporary tag was removed from a vehicle in the 200 block of Goldie Road.

June 13

Drugs: Police responded to a possible drug overdose in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue before charging Kristen L. Perkins of Hadley, Liberty, with one felony count of heroin possession. Perkins, 34, had a vial of suspected heroin and a used syringe; she also admitted having used heroin, authorities alleged.

Theft/criminal damaging: A sign was removed from a yard at an Oriel-Rogers Road business. Also, someone had placed glue in and damaged a lock box.

Theft: A Denver Drive man reported $100 and a gift card stolen from his car and truck.

Drugs: Police investigating suspicious activity pulled over 34-year-old Amber R. Breese in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue and charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. Breese, of Townsend Avenue, Girard, had 12 yellow capsules, two separate pills and two straws with powder residue, authorities alleged.

June 15

Drugs: Officers near Colonial Drive issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 18-year-old John P. Ahern with marijuana possession. Ahern, of Mansell Drive, Liberty, had a pill bottle filled with suspected marijuana, a report said.

Theft: A man noticed $480 missing from his vehicle in the 1300 block of Townsend Avenue.

GIRARD

June 12

Theft: A woman reported several pieces of jewelry missing from her Gary Avenue residence. The loss was estimated at $5,000.

Menacing: An East Main Street boy reported four boys between age 14 and 17 came to his home and tried to goad the accuser into a fight that was apparently related to a dispute regarding a designer belt.

June 13

Harassment: A Trumbull Avenue woman said three people had posted threatening messages against her via Facebook.

Harassment: A Smithsonian Street woman said a neighbor has taken pictures of her dogs and backyard fence without permission and continually yells at her.

Harassment: A Beechwood Avenue woman told officers her former boyfriend continually sends her unwanted text messages. He also sent short pornographic clips to the accuser, she further alleged.

June 14

Arrest: Authorities charged 18-year-old David M. Copes of East Main Street, Girard, with disorderly conduct after he had been arrested on another charge. Copes apparently became irate about conditions related to his arraignment and, while in a holding cell, kicked the door and refused several times to calm down, a report stated.

Theft: A $1,600 device used to measure cable signals, along with $7 in change, was removed from a vehicle in the 50 block of Abbey Street.

June 15

Recovered property: A man found a $100 bicycle lying next to a guardrail off South State Street.

Trespassing: A woman told police she returned to her Forsythe Avenue residence to find five juveniles playing basketball on her driveway without permission. She declined to file charges, however.
