Church dedication

Church dedication

vienna

St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, will dedicate its new church at 2 p.m. July 3, the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, with Bishop George V. Murry as celebrant.

St. Vincent de Paul Church in Vienna merged with St. Bernadette Church in Masury six years ago, renaming itself St. Thomas the Apostle, which means twin.

The two parishes merged all organizations and staff throughout the six years, and the last part of the merger was to worship together. Now with one worship space, the merger process is concluded.

The color of the brick on the outside of the new church reflects the two colors of brick used when the original churches were built, one in 1940, the other in 1950. Also, all the statuary, stained-glass windows and furnishings from the two church buildings were used in the new church.

There will be a parish potluck picnic after Mass.
