Four caught partying in vacant house

YOUNGSTOWN

Police broke up a party late Thursday in a vacant Loveland Road home.

Police were called about 10:05 p.m. to a home in the 3000 block of Loveland Road on a report of a party in a vacant house, and when they arrived, they could hear music thumping from inside.

Reports said the house was deemed inhabitable – or “red tagged” – by a member of the Community Police Unit in February. The front door was open and appeared to have been kicked in, reports said. There also were two vehicles in the driveway.

Police knocked on the door, and Andrew Brewer, 30, of North Bon Air Avenue, and Michael Adams, 36, of Wakefield Avenue, came to the door.

Then, two other people, Nicholas Mahinis, 28, of Sugarbush Drive in Canfield and Christine Texter, 55, of Gladstone Street in Campbell, also came to the door.

Reports said the officers then went inside and found multiple rocks of suspected crack cocaine on a table as well as two needles, one that had blood on it as if it recently was used and one that had a small amount of suspected heroin still inside. Reports said Brewer’s identification was on the table and there was some residue on it from suspected drugs.

Brewer was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug-abuse instruments and criminal trespass. Adams, Mahinis and Texter were issued citations for criminal trespass and released with a court date.

Magistrate Anthony Sertick set bond for Brewer at $5,000 Friday when he was arraigned in municipal court.
