Barko creates Idora illustration

YOUNGSTOWN

For nearly 20 years, local graphic artist Bob Barko Jr. has been creating pieces of artwork evoking memories of the city’s Idora Park.

He recently completed his next and last illustration highlighting “Youngstown’s Million Dollar Playground.”

The color-pencil-and-ink, computer-enhanced illustration, “Philadelphia Toboggan Company Carousel No. 61,” is based on photos and video taken by the artist.

It is a full-color, 16-by-20-inch limited-edition piece of fine graphic art printed on white-gloss cover stock.

It depicts the carousel, which was featured in Idora Park from 1922 until 1984, as it appears today, fully restored and fully operational, in New York’s Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The print run will consist of 750 prints retailing at $20 each and 50 artist’s proofs retailing at $50 each.

Barko said he is looking for individual sponsors at a cost of $100 each.

Those interested in a sponsorship may contact Barko via phone or text at 330-881-5819 or email at steeltownstudios@gmail.com by Monday.
