Struthers man faces OVI charge after arrest in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A Struthers man is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired this morning, according to a police report.

Police arrived on the scene of an accident on Brandon Avenue where a 2004 GMC Envoy ran into a tree. Emergency responders were already on the scene and checked the driver, Anthony Carson, 19, of Brandon Avenue, who refused to go to the hospital.

Carson's eyes were reportedly watery and bloodshot, according to the report. The officer conducted a field-sobriety test. Carson failed, but a breath test he took showed zero alcohol blood content. Carson admitted to smoking marijuana earlier and submitted to a urine test and police are awaiting results.

He was released on a summons pending a court date at 5:30 p.m. today in Mahoning County Area Court.
