BOARDMAN

The township fire department now is better equipped to protect pets thanks to a donation from animal-advocacy group Never Muzzled.

Using funds raised during an event at The Federal downtown last month, Never Muzzled purchased 90 pet-protection kits to distribute to local fire departments, according to a news release.

The Boardman Fire Department this week received six kits, which come equipped with oxygen masks for pets and leashes to prevent pets from running after being revived with oxygen, the release stated.

The other fire departments that have received or will receive kits, according to the release, are: Youngstown, Austintown, Bazetta, Beaver, Berlin, Braceville, Bristol, Brookfield, Campbell, Canfield, Champion, Columbia, Cortland, Craig Beach, Ellsworth, Girard, Green, Hartford, Howland, Hubbard, Kinsman, Lake Milton, Liberty McDonald, McKinley, Mineral Ridge, Newton Falls, Niles, North Jackson, Poland, Springfield, Struthers, Vienna, the city of Warren, Warren Township and Weathersfield.
