Stadium project

Stadium project

BOARDMAN

The next phase of the Boardman stadium project is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, when project leaders will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a new band shell at the stadium on the high school’s campus.

Band-shell construction was made possible by a $150,000 donation from township residents Bill and Karen Veri. Work is scheduled to be complete in August, by the start of football season.

Project leaders also are gearing up for the addition of ticket booths and a third building at the site for restrooms, concessions and locker rooms.

To support the project, contact the Boardman Boosters at donate@boardmanstadium.org or visit boardmanboosters.org.

Voter registration

COLUMBUS

Eligible voters will be able to complete their registrations online starting next year, under legislation signed into law by Gov. John Kasich.

The governor added his signature Monday to State Bill 63. Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted, an advocate of the move, and Sen. Frank LaRose, R-Copley, who sponsored the legislation, were among the invited guests on hand.

The legislation requires Husted’s office to establish and launch the secure, online registration system in January 2017.

Applicants will have to provide their names, addresses, birth dates, the last four digits of their Social Security numbers and their driver’s license or state identification card number to complete the process.
