RED CROSS ACTS OF COURAGE AWARDS


Nine received awards at Tuesday’s Lake to River Chapter Acts of Courage. Recipients are:

Employees of Molded Fiber Glass in Ashtabula: Gave CPR and called for the facility’s automated external defibrillator when a co-worker collapsed: Javier Coronado, Michelle Childs, Mona Mast, Darlene Rohm, Brenda Miller, Robin Frasure, Terry Dietrich, Chuck Lawson, Debbie Sarbiewski and Tanny Scheanon.

Linette Derminer of Ashtabula: Donated a kidney to local policeman Randy Douglas.

Employees at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course: Stephanie Bonilla, Jarrod Ladd and Adam Robertson performed CPR for over six minutes on a patron who was in distress.

Richard Markel and Chris Denno: Working on a roof for Boak and Sons in Austintown, they heard a crash of a car that was engulfed in flames, and pulled two victims from the crash. “We didn’t think; we just acted,” they said.

Matt Miller and Jack McDonald: The two were at the first practice of their church league softball team practice when teammate Jeff Moliterno collapsed. Miller and McDonald began CPR and rescue breathing.

Michael Lewis of Austintown: Rescued people from his smoky and fiery apartment building.

Tina Vincenzo of Ashtabula: A student aide at Ashtabula County Technical and Career Campus, she saw a car on a road parallel to Route 11, where she was driving, slide off the road and hit a tree. She provided comfort and vital first aid for the trapped driver, also an ACTC student, until help arrived.

Anna Cristo of Warren: A 16-year-old Girl Scout applied the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge food that was choking her mother.
