Man jailed after police find gun after traffic stop

YOUNGSTOWN — Police found a loaded .40-caliber handgun on a man they arrested during a traffic stop late Tuesday.

Lamar Knox, 26, of East Boston Avenue, is in the Mahoning County jail on weapons charges after he was pulled over at about 11:50 p.m. in his own drive after reports said a car Knox was driving was observed failing to stop at a sign.

When police went to talk to Knox they saw a bag of marijuana on the front seat and asked him to step out of the car.

When he got up reports said there was the handle of a handgun sticking up from under the driver's seat.

The gun was a 40-caliber semiautomatic handgun that had 10 rounds in the magazine.
