Boy Scouts sponsor breakfast fundraiser

The 11th annual Celebration of Scouting breakfast fundraiser will be June 28 at Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave. It is sponsored by the Whispering Pines District Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America and the public is welcome.

Doors open at 7 a.m. and breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8 with the program to follow. Reservations are necessary by June 22 by contacting John Brkic at 330-898-8474 or john.brkic@scouting.org. The breakfast is a celebration of Scouting’s impact on Mahoning County. There will be an introduction to lessons Scouts learn for life and Scouting traditions.

Whispering Pines District of the Greater Western Reserve Boy Scout Council serves families in Mahoning County and Hubbard with 1,429 youth and adult volunteers. Scoutreach serves the underprivileged youth in city school systems with 717 Cub Scouts in the Youngstown School system.

Sponsorships are available at several levels and include: Eagle: $5,000 to sponsor 32 Scouts for one year; Tenderfoot: $2,500 to sponsor 16 Scouts for one year; Webelos: $1,500 to sponsor eight Scouts for one year; Tiger Cub: $750 to sponsor four Scouts for one year; and Other, a gift of $158 or multiples of $158. A gift of $158 supports one Scout for one year.
