AKRON

Akron Children’s Hospital is conducting an interview day, from 9 a.m. to noon June 21 and 1 to 3 p.m. June 22 in the Cedar Pine Building, 185 W. Cedar St., for licensed practical nurses and medical assistants in its school health program. The starting date for these positions is July 25. Training is on Aug. 1.

Interviews are by invitation only. Before coming for an interview, candidates should apply online for positions titled School Health Job Fair at www.akronchildrens-jobs.com. Final candidates must pass pre-employment screening, including testing for nicotine, alcohol and drugs.

Safe Sitter registration

YOUNGSTOWN

Mercy Health – Youngstown is accepting registration for Safe Sitter programs at St. Elizabeth Youngstown and St. Joseph Warren hospitals. Safe Sitter teaches boys and girls age 11 to 13 how to be ideal baby sitters. The two-day course covers basic first aid, rescue breathing, accident prevention, child-care tips, what to do if a child chokes and how and when to call for help.

Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and will take place June 28 and 29 or July 20 and 21 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, and June 22 and 23 or Aug. 16 and 17 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The cost is $28.50 per person. Scholarships are available for those who meet financial eligibility requirements. For information or to register, call 330-480-3070.

Beginner yoga classes

WARREN

Beginning yoga is offered from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. or 7 to 8:15 p.m. on Mondays, July 11 - Aug. 22 at Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave. The cost for the adults-only class is $58 per person and $44 for Mercy Health employees. Prostate-cancer screenings

YOUNGSTOWN

Man Up Mahoning Valley, NEO Urology, Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley and Price Memorial AME Church, 920 Dryden Ave., are offering prostate-cancer screenings from 5 to 7 p.m. June 23 for men 40 and older who are uninsured or underinsured.

Screenings consist of a digital rectal exam and prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood draw. Dinner will be provided. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Call 330-480-3405.
