Valleywide hunt for historical spots

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will present a scavenger hunt road trip Friday in which participants can test their knowledge of local history. Individuals or teams will begin their vehicular adventure at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown, with a set of clues directing them to six landmark sites in the Valley — and there will be a “lifeline” available for those who get stumped. Participants should bring a smartphone or digital camera to record the landmarks. The final clue will lead to the finish line for a casual pizza party with soft drinks (other beverages are BYOB). Registration begins at 5 p.m., and the race starts at 5:30. Transportation is required; cost is $5 per person. Call 330-743-2589 for information.

Gold Wing cyclists rally at fairgrounds

CANFIELD

The Gold Wing Road Riders Ohio District Rally will be Thursday-Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds with the theme “Hobo Junction.”

All motorcycles and motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to attend, and there will be various activities all weekend, including a team challenge, field events and off-bike games. There also will be training seminars and tours, plus vendors.

The public is invited to attend at no cost between 3 and 6 p.m. Saturday to see the bikes on display. At 8 p.m. Saturday, a light parade — in which motorcycles are fully lit — will go through the neighboring streets near the fairgrounds with a police escort.

The rally will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $20 ($15 for club members).
