YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio ranked No. 39 in a recent study by WalletHub of the nation’s best and worst economies.

In order to identify the best-performing state economies, WalletHub’s analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across three key areas: economic activity, economic health and innovation potential.

Utah ranked No. 1 in the study with a total score of 71.55; an economic activity rank of 2; an economic health rank of 2; and an innovation potential rank of 4. Ohio received an overall score of 42.12; an economic activity rank of 34; an economic health rank of 43; and an innovation potential rank of 33. Mississippi placed last in the study at No. 51 with a score of 31.86; an economic activity rank of 51; an economic health rank of 48; and an innovation potential rank of 44.

NEW CASTLE, pa.

New Castle’s Department of Community and Economic Development will have a Regional Entrepreneur 2.0 Program June 22 at the New Castle Library, 207 E. North St, New Castle, Pa. The Entrepreneurial Communities program will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. The program focuses on entrepreneurs’ contributions to jobs and wages within a region and explore the role community institutions play in providing an entrepreneurial environment. Manufacturing topics

MANSFIELD

The Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network, MAGNET and the University of Akron will have a program focused on major topics that influence manufacturers and manufacturing markets in Northeast Ohio on June 24. The program, “The Current and Future State of the Economy,” will take place from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Gorman-Rupp, 600 S. Airport Road. The presenters will be Robert Schmidt, senior growth and innovation adviser at MAGNET, and Andrew R. Thomas, Ph.D, professor of marketing and international business at the University of Akron.
