CIRV and NOW Youngstown to sponsor Increase the Peace Rallies

YOUNGSTOWN

CIRV – Community Initiative to Reduce Violence – and NOW Youngstown will again partner to sponsor the Increase the Peace Rallies in the community.

The rallies are staged in the city’s high-crime areas to bring peace, restoration and hope to Youngstown.

A citywide prayer rally for all churches and ministries is planned at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Ave., where Al Yanno is pastor.

Pastor Yanno, Pastor Rolando Rojas of Spanish Evangelical Church, Pastor Rafael Cruz of Unity Baptist Church and Pastor A.J. Platt of Trinity Fellowship Church are organizers for NOW, and Guy Burney is CIRV coordinator.

Peace rallies are planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. The schedule is :

Tuesday, on the East Side at Victory Estates, 690 E. Magnolia Ave.

June 21, North Side, Heart Reach Ministries, 211 Redondo Road.

June 28, South Side, Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave.

July 5, in Campbell, Kirwan homes, 101 Jackson St.

July 12, East Side, ESA Apartments, 1110 Kendis Circle.

July 19, South Side, Glenwood Community Park, Glenwood Avenue between Laclede Avenue and Sherwood Street.

July 26, West Side, Borts Field, 151 S. Belle Vista Ave.

Aug. 2, North Side, Arlington Heights Community Center, 801 Park Ave. (off Wirt Street).

Aug. 16, East Side, Rockford Village, 1402 Dogwood Drive.

Aug. 23, South Side, Taft Elementary School, 730 E. Avondale Ave.

Book-bag assembling will take place Aug. 9 and 10 at Trinity Fellowship, 4749 South Ave., Boardman, with the book-bag distribution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.
