Shot in the abdomen
WARREN
A male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen was dropped off at Trumbull Memorial Hospital by a red vehicle at 8 p.m. Thursday, the Trumbull County 911 Center reports.
The identity of the victim and information about the shooting was unknown. Warren police are investigating.
New Corey Hunt detour
BRISTOL
The Trumbull County Engineer’s office recently announced the closing of Corey Hunt Road in Bristol Township between state Route 88 and Hyde Shaffer Road, 1,100 feet south of state Route 88, for a culvert replacement, Bristol 26 bridge, from Monday through June 24.
The detour route recommended by the engineers has been revised due to the closing of state Route 45.
The new recommended route is west on state Route 88, south on Hoffman Norton Road, east on Bristol Champion Townline Road and north on Corey Hunt.
Road closings for fest
YOUNGSTOWN
Mahoning County commissioners voted Thursday to close Kennedy Road between Quarry Road and Lowellville village line July 13-16 for the 121st annual Mount Carmel Celebration.
They also approved sponsorship grants of $1,000 each from county hotel bed-tax revenues for the Youngstown State University Summer Festival of the Arts July 9-10 and for marketing support for the Youngstown Wine and Jazz Festival at 7:30 p.m. July 9 in Central Square in the city’s downtown.
Adventure Day Camp
BOARDMAN
Boardman Park’s Adventure Day Camp is set to begin Monday. The Youngstown State University Anthropology Department will be on hand Wednesday through Friday. On Wednesday and Thursday, they will talk to the campers and allow them to participate in a hands-on workshop setting.
At 11 a.m. next Friday, they will set up a dig for the campers to uncover artifacts in the sand volleyball court. This will be the fourth year the department has participated.
The public is invited to come out any of the days, but attendance would be especially appreciated for the dig.

Library CFO to retire
AUSTINTOWN
The Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has accepted the resignation for purposes of retirement of Susan Merriman, chief fiscal officer, who has been with the library system for 23 years, and appointed Mark J. Mrofchak to replace her, effective July 18.
Mrofchak recently resigned, effective June 17, as interim finance director at the Mill Creek MetroParks.
In its Thursday meeting at the Austintown public library, the board also recognized Kathleen Senich, who retired from the library system last month as a graphic-arts specialist after 26 years of service.
