A Mahoning County grand jury Thursday indicted a man suspected in several burglaries across Mahoning County.
Ralph Goad, 52, of South Elm Street in Columbiana, was indicted on seven counts of burglary, all second-degree felonies; five counts of breaking and entering, all fifth-degree felonies; and a single third-degree felony count of breaking and entering.
Goad has been in the county jail since his May 26 arrest by Austintown police after reports said he was discovered trying to break into a bar at the corner of Raccoon and New roads.
A couple of days later, detectives with the county sheriff’s office and the Beaver, Goshen and Springfield police departments said Goad was responsible for up to 16 burglaries to fund a heroin habit police said reached up to between $300 and $400 a day.
Goad also is suspected in several burglaries in Columbiana County.
He takes items such as jewelry and guns, and either breaks a window or kicks in a door to get inside a home or business, investigators said.
Investigators said Goad has been to prison several times and was just released at the end of 2015 after serving a sentence. More charges may be filed, authorities said.
