Mothers and daughters gathered at the Lariccia Family Community Center at Boardman Park on May 1 for an afternoon of tea, crafts and fashion at the 12th annual Mommy and Me for Tea event.
There were two tea times, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Both were sold out with around 45 couples making for 90 people at each tea.
The event started off with a light lunch and tea. Following the lunch was craft time, where there were several tables full of different crafts for the guests to make. A professional photographer was there to take pictures of the mother and daughter couples. These pictures could then be put in the frames that the daughters made during craft time.
The daughters had the chance to participate in a runway fashion show to bring the tea to an end. The daughters walked down a carpet runway to music and posed at different spots as a description is read aloud to the mothers and other guests.
“They get to be a model and mom gets to write all about them and brag about her daughter,” said Karen McCallum, Boardman Park Recreation Director.
After the runway show, music played and the daughters had a dance party with their mothers as they got ready to leave.
The Mommy and Me for Tea is another family program at Boardman Park that brings the community together and allows family to spend time with each other.
