Brookfield schools hires its first woman superintendent

BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield Board of Education appointed Velina Jo Taylor its next – and first female – superintendent at a Thursday special meeting.

Taylor has been high-school and middle-school principal since 2001 and was also the first woman appointed to that job.

“I think the board is excited about my plans for the district,” Taylor said. “They appreciate my energy and enthusiasm.” Taylor’s new job begins Aug. 1. No salary details were available in the news release.
