Polo Lighting District plan approved

Township trustees have approved Ray Kashmiry’s request to add street lighting to the Boulevard housing development.

Speaking after the trustees meeting Wednesday evening at the township government center, Kashmiry said he is ecstatic over the decision.

“It’s a new development and we had very little lighting back there, and so what we had to do was obviously get ahold of our landowners to sign to add additional lighting,” he said.

The development will get seven more light poles, which Kashmiry said will provide improved security. He and other residents have been trying to gain approval for the additional lights for two years, he said.

Ohio Edison will determine the cost of installing the Colombian Post lights in the development. Trustees said the cost will be divided equally among all landowners in the development.

In other business Wednesday, trustees heard complaints from resident Dave Havalo of Jennifer Drive, who said neighboring residents on North Lima Road have driven ATVs, shot BB guns and publicly urinated near his property.

Trustees also approved the hiring of four new workers for the township summer road-repaving program. The workers will be paid the state minimum wage of $8.10 per hour and work no more than 30 hours per week.
