MetroParks sued over staff restructuring

YOUNGSTOWN — A lawsuit filed today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court alleges that Mill Creek MetroParks leadership violated state public-meetings law in its planning and implementation of a staff restructuring that in February eliminated numerous park positions.

The complaint — filed by Barbara Brothers of Youngstown, Suzanne Anzellotti of Youngstown and Jim Ray of Poland — asks the court, among other things, to declare the terminations and position-eliminations unlawful and “issue an injunction restoring all employees that were terminated and/or whose positions were eliminated with back.”

The listed defendants are the MetroParks board; board members John Ragan, Robert Durick, and Germaine Bennett; former board member Scott Schulick; and MetroParks Executive Director Aaron Young.
