Hispanic leader will share his experiences

Frank Nolasco, a leader in the Mahoning Valley’s Hispanic community, will share his experiences in a Memories of a Lifetime series presentation at 10 a.m. June 18 at Kravitz Deli’s meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave.

The program, sponsored by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and a good-will offering will be accepted to benefit the society. There also will be a raffle. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins will be admitted if space is available. Call 330-726-8277 for information or reservations.

Nolasco will recall growing up in Youngstown’s multi-ethnic Brier Hill district, and will share his views on the importance of preserving and celebrating ethnic culture. He also will share his experiences as a Hispanic in an area inhabited by many European descendants.

A retired Delphi Automotive supervisor, Nolasco has served as a board member for many nonprofit organizations. He is currently the treasurer of the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership (MYCAP) and former president of Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana (OCCHA). He is the first vice president of the Curbstone Coaches of Youngstown and serves on the board of directors of the Youngstown Office of Minority Health. Nolasco also volunteers at the Mill Creek MetroParks’ Davis Center and Fellows Riverside Gardens.

A graduate of Ursuline High School and Youngstown State University, and an Air Force veteran, Nolasco lives in Boardman with his wife and son.
