Theater will stage ‘Fox on the Fairway’
Staff report
NEW CASTLE, PA.
The New Castle Playhouse will present “The Fox on the Fairway,” a comedy directed by Paula Ferguson, for seven performances beginning Friday.
The play by Ken Ludwig (“Lend Me A Tenor,” “Moon Over Buffalo”) is a tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and ’40s. A madcap adventure about life, love and one man’s love affair with golf, it pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club.
Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, the furious-paced comedy will call to mind a Marx Brothers’ classic.
Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and June 16, 17 and 18; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday and June 19.
Tickets are $13. For information or to make reservations, go to newcastleplayhouse.org or call the box office at 724-654-3437 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.
