The annual scholarship, community and service awards program of the Youngstown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs took place May 18 at Tippecanoe Country Club.
President Catherine Campana welcomed the group and Barbara Higgins and Betty Cmil presented the community service award to Denise DeBartolo York for her outstanding service. Elva Easton received the YAFWC award for her service to the club and community, and Valorie Zurawick, scholarship committee chairman, presented a scholarship to Melissa DeMartinis.
The club received awards from Mary Witkowski, president of GFWC Ohio Northeast District, for outstanding participation in reporting, arts, conservation, home life and fundraising.
The following officers were installed by Easton and Ann Hall: Campana, president; Cmil, first vice president; Barbara Higgins, second vice president; Pat Sullivan, third vice president; Marilyn Morelli, recording secretary; Kay Fuller, corresponding secretary; and Lee Bowden, treasurer.
Sean Baran, a graduate of Youngstown State University Dana School of Music, performed various selections during the luncheon and installation.
June 15 will be the next meeting for officers and committee chairmen at Johnny’s Restaurant, 7607 Market St., Boardman. The topic will be “Looking Ahead 2016-2017.”
