States brace for more triple-digit temperatures

TUCSON, Ariz.
A heat wave in western and southwestern U.S. states has left many scattering from the sun.
Officials in California, Oregon and desert Southwest states say the weekend is bringing more dangerous, triple-digit temperatures.
That leaves few options for people looking to avoid the dangers of excessive heat.
In Arizona, many travel short distances to the tops of mountains, which are on average 20 degrees cooler than the city. In places such as Seattle and Tacoma, where air conditioning is not that common, many embrace the high temps and hit the outdoors.
But authorities say people and pets need to be careful to stay hydrated and safe as temperatures continue to climb.
